On winXP, the serif fonts shows the same effect, but on other characters.
The monospace font doesn't show the effect (but it's so large).
With all font types, the borderlines seems to change random between:
1 white line or 2 gray lines.
btw. Instead of resizing the window, you can force the effect also with 
zooming in and out.
