There seems to be serious problems with the CVS, or somebody (me?) has
made a serious mistake.
The copy I've just re-checked out contained a 4000-char-line of trash bytes
at line 650, and it seems that a lot of code got lost (overwritten) in this
region, as I got the same error messages when I've removed that line.
I don't have a recent working version of that file on the machine I'm working
on in the moment, and my other computer is about 7 miles from here ;-(
I'm going to take a clean version of the file in the CVS as soon as possible,
probably late this evening (after 10pm GMT) or early next morning...
