The only thing, that should be changed, should be a smaller upper and
lower frame. At the moment they are wasting space a bit (move the logo to the
left or right end, move "Links" into the same line-> 2 lines "spared" and
usable for the information part).

Yes, the first thing I do, when I come the first time to the homepage of a
project is looking for a news section. Not to get informed about what is
new, just to see, that the project members are still busy improving their
project. IMO it should also contain "unimportant" news, just to show, yes we are
active (by the date of the news).

- A changelog
- A ongoing work (with detailed list of whats's already in CVS) 
- Maybe: A wishlist

Maybe, all of my suggestions costs a lot of work and update cycles, but
this is what I want to know from the homepage of a project.
