I installed VirtualDubMpg2 on my PC running WinXP
with Windows Media Player 9 installed. Package was
unzipped into folder "C:\virtualdubmpg2" and run from
there. I downloaded binary and required dll's. No
problem loading MPEG-1 files, but attempt to load
MPEG-2 vids yields the error message:
"MPEG Import Filter: pack synchronization error".
I note that this is the same message I get if I try to load
MPEG-2 files with the vanilla version of VirtualDub. This
seems very suspicious to me. Perhaps I have not
installed the tool properly? Not knowing where else to
put them, I placed the dll's in the same folder as the
binary. Hopefully this is okay. Can you tell me what
I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance. My email
address is joehorowitz@attbi.com. If there is a
problem, you may also use hojo-wn@worldnet.att.net.

I've had this same problem. Anyone have an answer to this
    question?

It is possible to partially to overcome the problem using the
different frame rate options availble under the video menu.
most of the time, line: "use frame rate to adjust time for video
    and audio"

    :p

best way would be to have some expert to force vdub to use
transport stream codec instead od the other ones.
