I can't configure my internet access to my router.

(Under boot option 2 with X)
First of all X wont' start the screen flickers and then it stays in console mode. Then after logging in as "root" I can configure my Display, mouse, network card etc.

However, there is no option to configure my default gateway ie. my router's address and there is no option for the dns server's address, once again my router.

Once I have done this I start up X with "startx" and it loads up KDE straight away with no login required.

I then tried to configure my eth0, DNS and gateway with Linuxconf in KDE and the other configuration settings but they say they can't change the settings (I suppose due to the read only nature of this flavour)  The DNS returns an error after 4 seconds.

I've tried running linuxconf in the console mode as well and to no avail I can't gain net access.

So how can I access my gateway and the internet using Virtual linux 1.1?

PS other settings in Linuxconf crash KDE and I lose Mouse or keyboard or both. If I allow X to start normally in boot mode 2, the first time it doesn't as mentioned above after 5 minutes it gives another shot and loads up the login interface (where with normal Mandrake you have the option of KDE, Gnome etc.) but my keyboard cuts out at this point and not the mouse. If I invoke X with "Startx" then at least KDE loads but is no use to me without network support.

Cheers
