I've hacked on VL a little to allow the following:
1) take any image installed on disk and turn it into a boot-from-CDROM image. needs a little work to automatically figure out library dependencies, but I think that's easy. just work.
2) read in files from floppy on bootup. this allows one to use the same CDROM in several machines and have the floppy control IP address, services run, services config, etc. the floppy is easily modified and, when the write-protect tab is flipped, the system becomes unhackable (at least, not permanently hackable). Been using it for name server and mail relay.
Any interest in any of this?

Yes !
I cant see why i would not :)
Have you written it in bash ??
WHatever, i would like you to be involved in this project !
I have very little time over, and the main scripting need a rewrite to include functions like yours, but also because it is buggy and looks like a craw's nest after 2 years of modifications :)
Any help is appreciated .

I have released a new version of VL, 1.1 .
I have also padded the iso with 64 k, so it should work better with buggy cd writing soft .
And , i have burned this very iso with 4 different common cdsoft's, all have worked without special settings .
If needed, specify bootable and / or raw format.
