I am running VL 1.1 and it is great! One question I have is how to save settings made while running VL. I have a virt_linux folder created on an ext2 partition, but whenever I reboot, all mail, browser, config files, etc. are lost. Any suggestions?
Paul

Hi paul, i have answered you personally, but i'll make a short notice here aswell .
Normally, /root and /etc is tgz'ed and saved in virt_linux folder, created on the following partition types :
Ext2,reiserfs,ntfs,vfat,fat .
I have seen problems with some diskcontrollers and ntfs partitions with ver 1.1 .
I dont know why yet, have no machine that fails, so i can see what actually happens .
In those cases have vlutil, the universal setupscript failed to detect any partitions, and therefore not succeded, or else simply not been able to create the folder (ntfs) .
Do you see any complaints during boot :
Example :
Vlutil starting in settings mode .....
?
?
?
Or during shutdown , in textmode after 'saving settings' ?
More info should be great .

Also have the option to mount on boot /home, /etc and maybe
others as NFS from somewhere; also load /etc from floppy if
available (ie containing a nice fstab that will do the NFS
magic).
As usage - I would like to have my machine boot from this
CD, load the settings from floppy and mount my encrypted HDD

1. boot it, make changes and have it generate its new ISO on
a mounted HDD; ready to be burned
2. have it reburn itself as being stored on a rewritable CD
in a CD-writer device (I admit that this one is too crazy -
since the fs on the CD is in use)
Really (1) would solve a lot of customization issues.
