8.1 beta in cooker already has devfs support, which
gives you much more flexibility in mounting virtual
device directories over the top of (e.g.) the cdrom,
and can save you lots of space in /dev for inodes etc.

Sounds like just the thing for your project, a recent
cooker development news issue (mandrake weekly news?)
had more details...

I have actuall y thought about it, but not done it yet
b'cause of the major rework i have to do with all scripting
