I have Java 10 installed on my machine. When I try to run the downloaded violetumleditor-2.1.0.exe file, I get a message saying it requires Java 1.6. But then it opens up a web page to download java 1.8.

First, if the program will run on Java 1.8, then you need to update that dialog to say so. If it will only run on 1.6 then you shouldn't take people to the 1.8 download page.

You might also include instructions on the web site explaining how to run two different versions of the JRE with instructions on how to create a .BAT file to start Violet with the correct JRE.
