Hope you haven't given up on it, a new version is in the making,
supporting a lot of cool new features. But lets see if can't get yours
running. When the backend runs, it should output stuff whenever you
refresh the webpage. Like "GET_FREEDISK", the web-interface asks the
backend for this information and should write the before mentioned debug
message in the console. If this doesn't happen, you may not be
connecting correctly to the backend - check the config.php to see if
backend host has been set correctly, and make sure you don't have a
firewall or similar blocking access to the port the backend is running
on.

I will try in the near (at least so I hope to..) future, to release the
new version of ViMS, which has a lot of corrections and new features,
and is based on PHP5.
