Hannes A total red herring, I think. At the time I had the problem with midori I was trying to write a html table that was automatically updated using javascript and python. The enable-universal-access-from-file-uris setting may have influenced that. I have just confirmed that the setting makes no difference to static html in vimprobable or midori.
