Hannes, Thanks for the patch and no, it didn't help. I'm almost sure it's not a Vimprobable issue and more likely as Matt suggests, a runtime dependency. I don't use the gnome desktop and have always had a problem working out where gtk ends and gnome begins. I notice that Arch Linux lists, for instance, gobject-introspection as a requirement for webkitgtk and I don't have it. Midori didn't need it but perhaps vimprobable does. Anyway, thanks for the assistance; if I didn't enjoy these sort of problems I'd be using firefox on ubuntu!
