The file (org.gvimplugin.ui_0.0.3.jar) is no sitting in /incoming. Sebastian, can you finish it off - if you like? Yeah, I knew of the project and wanted to track it. I read some mails, but now I see, that you two have done a really great job. The screenshots are fantastic :-) How can we join forces? We are at least four (more or less active) developers: Martin, Nageswar, David and myself. That sounds like a fine little team ... And I'm sure there will be enough ppl for betatesting.. (about 40 members on this list atm). Sebastian. |

Hi Martin et al, You may want to check out a project I'm part of, http://code.google.com/p/eeedit/ This project was started during the Google Summer of Code very recently. It has a fair amount of problems at the moment but it does support embedding Vim into Eclipse (so the rumours you heard were correct :)). Although only on Linux since the feature it uses of Vim to do this is only supported only Linux (we have written a working patch for Vim though which adds this feature to Windows). We made use of code from vimplugin as a starting point and eventually started a separate project since Sebastian was very hard to get hold of and had seemed to abandon the project. Not sure what your guys plans are exactly but thought I should just alert you to us and open the communication channels. Best regards, David Terei > -----Original Message----- > From: vim...@li... Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4526343 By: krischik Hello, Just a question: I always thought that Java project use reverse DNS as prefix for IDs or classes - which in our case would be net.sf.vimplugin. Or am I mistaken? Martin ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Hello, Quoting Sebastian Menge <seb...@un...>: > There are some prototypes then, and we have to merge them together to a > fairly usable "product". I'm getting excited again :-) I have added my current release of the gvim Plugin for alpha testing: http://vimplugin.svn.sourceforge.net/viewvc/vimplugin/branches/gvimplugin Sebastian: maybe you can help me in creating a downloadable version. The current version will start gvim with the file selected. It does not embed itself into eclipse (I heard rumours that this might be possible). My plan is it to use the gvimplugin in conjunction with eclim so have full two way communication between gvim and eclipse. Martin |

Hey guys. I'm very sorry, that I didn't had the time to push the project forward last year. I started with much energy, but lost it over time. The request of Martin came at the right moment. Over the last year I saw that there is enough potential in the community to bring this on. Bram has this on his list and there is Nageshwar who has done good work on this in the google Summer of code. There were a couple of people that dropped by this project and left again, because it got stuck at a very alpha level. I admit, I didn't care enough about community building. But this project has much potential and I cannot do everything on my own. So let's revive the project once more. I will try to get Nageshwar back on board, and then we need to develop a plan for the coming time. There are some prototypes then, and we have to merge them together to a fairly usable "product". I'm getting excited again :-) Thanks for your support, Sebastian. |

Welcome to the "team" ;-) Could you commit it to a branch first? I'd like to keep the trunk clean. We can refactor and move in everything later, but I'd like to keep the structure so we will eventually converge to a stable development process. Sebastian. |

Martin is correct. I spent a good amount of time attempting to use another version of vim. Actually, I was able to use the command line version of vim for Windows, but it kept hanging my system when I pressed any key. I would suggest either using the cygwin version or perhaps helping Martin develop his gvimplugin. I would very much like to see this move forward! I don't have much time to code at the moment, but I could definitely help with testing, and perhaps the occasional bug fix. > Is it possible to use the vim for windows executable instead of the > cygwin one? Unlikely: you would need a terminal version (which I have not seen on Windows native yet) as the started vim is remote controlled by injecting keystrokes - and that only works with a terminal based vim. However, I am working on a new gvimplugin which comes along nicely and uses gvims server capabilities to inject the commands. See: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1796955&group_id=154059&atid=790262 I hope that I am approved soon so I can add the plugin to subversion and later create a release. Hey! I just installed vimplugin from the update site, but I have some problems w= ith=20 it. =46irst, I have my movement keys remapped by doing this: :no =F8 l :no l k :no k j :no j h Inside Eclipse, the first one fails as a movement key (the last 3 works fin= e),=20 so I can't move right. I have no problems typing '=F8' in insert mode. Mayb= e=20 unicode keystrokes aren't correctly passed when not in insert mode? The sam= e=20 thing seems to happen (or rather not happen) with a more complex command th= at=20 I have mapped with :map to =E6 (note that both =F8 and =E6 are present on m= y=20 keyboard). Secondly, any use of Tab seems to switch the focus to some other widget in= =20 Eclipse. Third, it is not really responsive at all, especially movement. Best regards, Lars Ivar Igesund |

Hi Vimmers! At last. Real Vim in an good IDE! I've been struggling for a while to find a way to get this environment, having tried KDevelop with various Vim KParts without much success. Others must have had simmilar experiences because the last I saw, the KPart kvim|gvim was removed from the latest KDE.. I wouldn't recommend yzis either, after finding most of the Vim capabilities missing. Oh well... back to vim on xterm ;o) On a positive note, taglist, cscope and ctags are fantastic (checkout www.vim.org), just need something like Eclipse for managing the big picture. I still haven't got Vim running inside Eclipse, and would therefore be very grateful if someone could offer help or advice on this. Behaviour ^^^^^^^^^ 1. Start eclipse from shell. 2. File|Open File|foobar.cpp 3. Get message on terminal: vim sucsessfully started 4. Get embedded editor tab with the following error message and no code! Hi Sebastian, I'm attaching the latest vimclient code to this mail. Sorry for sending the whole code. Since we don't have an online repo, I had to do it. The additional features that were included: Hot Key processing.. some bugs were eliminated.. A copy of modified code is also available at plugin side ( useful for code assistance) Check the code once and export this code on the repository, so that from now onwards we can work on that. I asked davidterei to complete code proposal engine and to write scripts for vim to display the code suggestions and compilation errors. -- Thanks, Nageshwar M |

Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4346199 By: zenakuten Thank you for this wonderful plugin! I know I'm not the only one who has been patiently waiting for it :) It has some serious glitches/issues but i'm sure they can be worked out, like how do you hit vim keys that are also eclipse shortcuts? I tried to hit ^W+ to resize the window but it closes the window (eclipse shortcut for close is ^W). Also, I noticed ^[ doesn't work to go into command mode. You have to hit ESC. I've hit ^[ for years to go into command mode in vi/vim. ESC key is just too far away :) Anyway these are small things that can be fixed later again thanks soo much! ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4323047 By: serfian Hi all: I'm running eclipse on WinXP and had been using gvim 7.1. I have finally gotten eclipse to load the vim plugin (one must point to the cygwin/bin/vim.exe rather than the 'normal' gvim executable). Remaining questions: Can the plugin run gvim? (when I changed the preference to point to it, it would launch, but as an indepenent app). the cygwin version doesn't appear to like my existing _vimrc file (probably due to it's non-gui nature). However, I would like to change the default color scheme, but am having a few problems. Can someone point me toward a list of available colors (bg and fg) with the non-gui vim? I have tried a number of them that are listed in the vim help, but they are either ignored or garishly wrong. Where can I put my eclipse based _vimrc file? Is that in /usr/share/vim? Also, when I attempt to edit a file (*.c), vim is not the default editor (even though it is so mapped), but must use the 'edit with' option. Is this a bug, or pilot error? When I attempt to open another file (with the first still open), I get a black unresponsive window where I would expect to see the source of the second file. Bug or pilot error? Thanks! -kt. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4322455 By: bastl This probably means that the plugin is unable to launch vim. Is the path to you vim-executable correct (under window|preferences|vimplugin)? Do you use Windows? If so, try to use vim from the cygwin-distribution. That could solve it. bastl. ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum. Read and respond to this message at: https://sourceforge.net/forum/message.php?msg_id=4322419 By: serfian Me too. I thought it might be collision with the *other* vi plugin, so I re-installed eclipse but still it persists. Is there a fix for this -- I am very interested in this plugin, but if I can't get it to work, my interest fades... ______________________________________________________________________ You are receiving this email because you elected to monitor this forum.
