I think I have a doc bug:

\n insert a <NL> (<NUL> in the file
for the flags for the s// command.
"\n" installes new-lines not nulls

In Vim, a \n in the replacement text of a substitution inserts a NUL (0x00) character. You must use \r to insert a new-line.
