Hi thecon, Thanks for the interest. I've added you to the developer list on sourceforge. Next thing you might want to do is to subscribe to our mailing list and you are all set to work :-). The other PM wandys has recently set up a WiKi page on http://vcd.cosoft.org.cn, which I don't really know how to use yet. The following are more question from my self to wandys: 1. Is there a way to synchronize the CVS and WiKi pages automatically? From both sides? 2. On the Wiki page, is there a way to identify who made what changes? Bear with me if they sound silly. Last, please join me to welcome the new member! lang2 On Sun, 21 Mar 2004 15:35:31 +0800, co...@bj... said: > hello, > > i'm try to join the vim docs translate, and i'v registed a sourceforge > id as > thecon. > -- Simon Liang wzh...@sp... -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Choose from over 50 domains or use your own |

There are 'PageInfo' and 'PageHistory' links on every wiki page. Besides, another two useful links: http://vcd.cosoft.org.cn/pwiki/index.php/RecentChanges http://vcd.cosoft.org.cn/pwiki/index.php/RecentEdits As for 'who', you can 'sign in' before you start to edit. Well, wiki is a thing meant to be open. And i make our wiki as open as possible. Anonymous edit allowed everywhere. CVS remains as the authortive committing method. 'Static' html versions also remain as the authortive translating results and can be synced automatically from cvs as usual: http://vcd.cosoft.org.cn/doc/help.html http://vcd.cosoft.org.cn/doc/usr_toc.html Wiki is for casual/anonymous contribution, to attract more ppl to get interested and hopefully join in. So that it's supposed to get updated more often than cvs. With all that said, i dont think it neccessary to sync b/w cvs and wiki. We can incorporate changes from wiki, after reviewing and polishing them, to our cvs repository [every week/month, or when we are about to make a release (beta?) ]. FYI, our wiki has since been working pretty fine. Some guy has translated 'if_perl.txt' and another guy has started to work on 'visual.txt'. Not 'small changes', huh? So we can invite them to join in as core translators (with cvs committing permisson). Regards, |

Sounds like you are planning to use wiki as a scratch pad or something. So there is actually no need to keep the wiki pages synchronized with CVS. The official documents would be whatever in the CVS and the generated html version. Am I getting the wrong idea? > > FYI, our wiki has since been working pretty fine. One more question, is there a way for people to get notification about changes in WiKi pages, like the cvs-commit mailing list? They left their emails there in the translated doc and i dont think they are one of us _yet_. :-) > One more question, is there a way for people to get notification about > changes in WiKi pages, like the cvs-commit mailing list? > Unfortunately, no. http://phpwiki.sourceforge.net/phpwiki/PageChangeNotification -- Alecs K. |

You see without automatic notification, it is hard to judge how active they are. I didn't even know they exist if not for you to tell me. This is unfortunate really. I think having to go to the webpage to check everthing out is kinda pain and less effective. ps. RSS is greate. Maybe we will wait until they finish those documents. I think WiKi is still handy thoug right because it is 'open'. We can do review and polishing right there. lang2 -- Simon Liang wzh...@sp... -- http://www.fastmail.fm - Faster than the air-speed velocity of an unladen european swallow |
