hi sri,

bug report:

if you have three files, in the same folder, called:
1) myfile.tex
2) myfile.ltx
3) myfile.latex

and i'm using VLS to edit, compile and view "myfile.ltx" or "myfile.latex", VLS goes and picks up and compiles myfile.tex instead.

you might want to look into this.

and then run the command fc-cache.
