All gpx files I tested open correclty opened via 'File → Open': A Track as a green line with green square dots will be shown on screen, and it is the expected track.
Attachment opened via 'File → Open':
issue: No track shown
issue: Message "Thumbnail not yet loaded" shown behind crosshair
issue: track pints seem to be interpreted as waypoint list, not as a trackpoint list.
All compared tracks are from the same gpx tracker device.
I can't find a difference between the files (exploring and comparing them in a text editor) which might explain the problem.
Other gpx editors and viewers and http://www.gpswandern.de/ show the affected track without problems.
Any Ideas concerning reasons and a workaround?
The screenshot shows the difference:
Working 2017-05-05 ... .gpx is shown as "Spur" and would show a normal track
affected 2017-05-09 ... .gpx is shown as "Wegpunkte"
Unfortunately I can't reproduce the behaviour you are seeing (neither on Linux or in a Windows VM with versions 1.6.2 or the latest source code version).
I note there is small oddity in the attached GPX file, in that there are compressed empty tags:
This should not effect Viking's processing - I think the above is valid XML anyway, but ATM it's the only thing I can think of: so try deleting those lines and see if anything different happens.
Hi,
I want to report that I have also Rainer's problem. In my case my gpx file works in Linux but fails in Windows 7.
I attach my gpx file to see if it helps.
The track has been done using a nexus 7 and track@way (http://www.trackaway.org/) as software.
the same viking I used when I failed to open my sample document opens Ethan's sample document without problems. And even my sample document now works without problems. Strange!
My Viking 1.7-dev (2017/01/22) opens both files fine in Linux. However, with Rainer's track there are missing trackpoints between km 21.65 and 26.40, so these two are connected by a straight line.
r.
My gpx track also have lost trackpoints at the start of the hiking. Maybe that is the problem of both tracks.
For the moment I didn't have the opportunity of trying again in windows.
