I notice that anytime a filename has an ampersand & character, Video Monkey will fail.

    i.e. The.Greatest.Sitcom-s01e01.Father & Son.avi

There are other characters that will cause similar problems.
Stick to DOS/Unix legal characters and you will be OK.
for example / is not a legal filename character.

I'm not intentionally picking a filename with an ampersand, it's the fact that Video Monkey by default is creating a new file name out of the episode title when converting, and if that includes an ampersand, it's not doing an appropriate search/replace to make it valid.

I have just noticed that this happens to me too.  "&" is legal in filenames on the Mac, and apparently elsewhere too.  I have been some files called things like "Fast & Loose s01E05.avi" and when I try to convert them then it seems to spawn something off into background and this conversion fails but it starts the next two or three in the queue simultaneously.which also fail.

The 0.9 release (out soon) should fix this.
