I actually just deleted VisualHub the other day because everything I've encoded in it for the last 4 months is too jerky to even watch and nothing has worked to fix it. I CAN tell you, though, that Handbrake and Viddy Up both crash encoding them. I hate video codecs. :(

Unless I'm missing something, mplayer extended won't convert my videos to a format that will play on my Apple TV or xbox 360, so it doesn't solve any of my problems. Waaaa

I just spent the last 2 hours downloading and compiling libraries and finally got the latest version of ffmpeg compiled. Put it in the package and I'm getting an error that the "fastest" profile doesn't exist. I tried taking -vpre that out of the command it showed in the console, and I got an error saying libx264 was an invalid codec. I compiled ffmpeg with libx264 enabled, and actually used the exact same options as the original bin included with Video Monkey. Any tips?
Thanks!

The problem is quite clear. MKV files are evil and whoever invented them should be taken out back for a good, old-fashioned beat down :-)
I've seen more problems with MKV files that with all other formats combined. I will see if updating ffmpeg can improve the situation.
If you have VisualHub, it would really help if you could see if it can encode this file.
I actually just deleted VisualHub the other day because everything I've encoded in it for the last 4 months is too jerky to even watch and nothing has worked to fix it. I CAN tell you, though, that Handbrake and Viddy Up both crash encoding them. I hate video codecs. :(
Oh, and meant to mention that MKV is my arch nemesis. It blows my mind that so many people use it while almost nothing can play it.
Because you can't put any styled soft subs in an MP4 it became a standard. get . This fixes all the problems you have been whining about.
