OK- so problems appears when trying to access from denied ip range. In that case apache will ask for username/password, after entering videoDB error is displayed?
If correct- could you supply me with a simple apache config that does not require me to have an AuthUserFile (not an apache guru myself..)? Or- pm me ftp access to your site for debugging?

Thanks,
Andi

Andi,

cleared cookies - problem still there
access to videodb demo site is working

I did some further tests on my server und narrowed down the problem
to the apache configuration for the videodb-directory on my server.

Following configuration for the directory is in effect:
---------------------------------------------------------------------
         Options -Indexes MultiViews
         AllowOverride None
         AuthType Basic
         AuthName "Access to Movie Database"
         AuthUserFile /local/http_conf/passwd/moviedb.users
         Require valid-user
         Order deny,allow
         Deny from all
         Allow from 127.0.0.1
         Allow from 192.168.1.0/24
         Satisfy any
----------------------------------------------------------------------

This is because I want to allow unauthorized access to videodb
for localhost and the local subnet (192.168.1.0).
Access from all other sites requires Apache authorization with userid/
password.

From localhost and subnet 192.168.1.0/24 the access to videodb is
working
From all other ip-addresses the specified error occurs.

I discovered the problem on my wlan-subnet 192.168.2.0/24 which I
forgot to
specifiy in the apache-configuration. When I add an "Allow"-Statement
for
192.168.2.0/24 in the apache-configuration I can access videodb.
But the access from external ip-addresses from the internet is still
not working
because I don't want unauthorized access to my server.

Although this sounds more like an apache-problem, somehow it must
also be
a videodb-problem.
I have other projects/software on the same apache server with
the same apache-configuration options and none of them give me problems.

Thanks
Harald

Harald,

could you try to build a reproducable case, e.g. clearing cookies,
opening site etc.? Are you able to reproduce this against the videodb
demo site (http://videodb.net/demo)?

Thanks,
Andi

Hi,

I'm having a problem logging in to VideoDB when connecting from a
remote address.

The Login-Page does not appear - only the following error:

-------
- Database Problem
-
- You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that
corresponds to your MySQL
- server version for the right syntax to use near '' at line 3
- SELECT name FROM users WHERE id=
------

My VideoDB-Installation is configured for multi-user support and this
seems to happen because the cookie "VDBUserid" is empty - buy why?

A Login from the server running the installation is working.

Problem appeared already long ago (over one year) but now I would
need
it.

Using the latest VideoDB (3.0.0b3) on opensuse 10.3.

Any ideas ?

Regards
Harald
