Hello all. I try to set up a saa7134 PCI card running on a FreeBSD 8.1. I did followed this thread http://forums.freebsd.org/showthread.php?t=15224 but i figure out webcamd can be used only on USB devices. If you have any idea how can i use VLC with this card, will be much appreciated. Thank you and best regards. |

Hi everybody, I am trying to get dvb-t with a hauppauge hvr-1300 to work. I managed it with the freebsd driver /usr/ports/multimedia/cx88 , the problem is that i cannot use a player (mplayer, xine, etc), because it does not support v4l. So I heard about your project. Now I would like to try this card with the linux-kmod-compat and the native linux driver from http://linux.bytesex.org/v4l2/cx88.html in order to use mplayer after everything is installed As it says on the page: + copy driver sources + create Makefile.kld + compile Ok this is a little too less information for me, because i dont know how/where to start. As far as i understood i have to copy the linux driver into the linux-kmod-compat port directory in a folder called work/. and then create a Makefile.kld also in work/. Then compile the port with the new makefile. Is this correct so far? Unfortunately Im not a ports-guru and dont really know what to put into that makefile. Is there anyone else trying to setup a dvb-t card or maybe the hvr-1300 and can post his/her makefile? Or maybe there is somebody who has managed it and can write some little more information please. thanks lockdoc |

All you have to do is join SourceForge and then send an email to this list with your SourceForge username. I'll add you to the members roster. If you'd like to work on the admin side of the project (Project Administrator, add new Developers, Release Technician, Forum Moderator, etc.) just ask. We'll need at least 2 or 3 admins to ensure continuation of the project (I might get struck by a meteor or run over by a bus :-). I'm on the west coast of the US. It'd be nice if someone from Europe or Asia could be an admin so duties could be performed quickly at any time. Regards, Fritz Katz |

It looks like an interesting and challenging project. I don't see any way to actually join the project on the SourceForge page. How do I join? I've used OpenBSD for years but I've never thought it would be be a good multi-media platform. We've got a server farm running BSD systems at my company and you're right about the stability of the BSDs. -- William |
