Backup and restoration is an important practical
consideration for users and administrators. There's
currently a lack of documentation on how to backup and
restore a Vesta repository.
There are several different ways one can do this, each
of which requires different considerations and
procedures. All repository backup and restoration
approaches require an understanding of the replication
agreement invariant. Very few people know how to deal
with the practicalities, so this is definitely an area
that could benefit from some documentation.

of an appendable directory when the original master has
