[veryquickwiki-users] Custom markup code?

I'm looking for a way to add custom markup such as yellow highlighting. 
I know I can edit macro.properties to have HTML substituted, but this 
doesn't get me the "on" and "off" codes I want. E.g., I'd like to be 
able to enter something like:

%%highlight text%%

in wikimarkup and have it rendered as

<span style="background-color:yellow"> highlight text </span>

Is this possible?
