(00:25:21) : just wanted to reply to something I saw on the vegastrike forums about nvidia performance badness in the 7xxx series.. I managed to fix this by switching it from the kernel's agpgart to nvidia's agpgart thats the only reason I added (didn't feel like making an account) BTW vegastrike is fun keep up the good work. (00:30:12) Reflect: awesome :-) (00:30:31) Reflect: thanks for the report... how did you change this...what env variable? I thought it used nvidia's gart by default (00:30:48) had to recompile the kernel without agpgart support (00:31:03) 7xxx basically made it impossible to have both (00:31:21) : so you can't really choose anymore.. and it always makes agpgart have preference (00:32:13) : Option "NvAGP" "3" is the one that uses kernel's agpgart then nvidias.. I think if you set it to 1 it will use nvidia's agpgart or nothing (00:33:34) you can see wich gart you are using by typing cat /proc/driver/nvidia/agp/status on mine when I type this it says: Status: Enabled Driver: NVIDIA AGP Rate: 8x Fast Writes: Disabled SBA: Enabled (00:33:50) Reflect: ahh excellent thanks :-) (00:34:00) : when it uses kernel's agpgart where it says driver it will have agpgart instead |
