As incognu mentioned in the Seamonkey packaging thread, the Internet Suite
menu item shows up twice in KDE. I have confirmed this on my own box as
well. When writing any XFCE helpers, aka .desktop files, please include the
following line in them:

NotShowIn=KDE

When this line appears in a .desktop file, the item will not appear in the
KDE menu.

Going on a tangent here, if you have the gtk-qt-engine built against KDE
3.5.4/3.5.5 installed on VL 5.8, you'll see GTK Themes and Fonts appear
twice in the KDE Control Center. This is because there is a clone of the KDE
menu item in /usr/share/applications. That item does need to be there, but
it should not be visible in KDE. It's there mainly for use with Gnome or
other DE's.

I think I need to file a bug report at the home page of the gtk-qt theme
engine so that this issue is fixed on their end. Until the author fixes
this, the fix is actually easy to add to the build script in the form of a
sed command.

Why would the XFCE helpers show up on the KDE menu? They are in
/usr/share/xfce4/helpers/ and have a "Type=X-XFCE-Helper".

Are you adding specific .desktop files within the /opt/kde/...
structure? I left the seamonkey .desktop files in
/usr/share/applications/ visible for KDE so we would not need to add
them specifically, since it should pick them up from there.

I'm adding to this email the seamonkey "template" I mentioned earlier
in the thread, but without eurynome.jar and newsfox.jar, to keep it
down in size. These 2 files would go in
/opt/seamonkey/lib/seamonkey-version_number/chrome/.

Er, um, not to crosspost here as well as on the sm package thread, but I think
the seamonkey duplicate kmenu problem may have been more due to my somehow
having both seamonkey.desktop and seamonkey-browser.desktop files to be copied
to /usr/share/applications.  Corrected in latest build -- though I see 
from the
template (thanks, Joe1962) that I should have kept seamonkey-browser.desktop
instead of seamonkey.desktop.

I also included JohnB316's suggestion of editing the xfce helper items.

No sm .desktop entries are going into /opt/kde/share/applications (or anywhere
in /opt/kde, as far as I can see).

I'm seeing the duplicate gtk-qt-engine entries in KDE's Control Centre, 
though,
both with KDE 3.5 (originally) and with KDE 3.4.2.
