Uel, I used the ones that Vector linked to, that would be B1. I will test the newer ones. Roy On Saturday 07 November 2009 11:21:19 uel archuletta wrote: > Roy, > what ISO's did you use? > > we have 1.4 and 1.2-CD2 up now they have latest pkgs in them. > > Thanks, > Uel > |

I tried 1.5. "gui" gets to where it configures X, logs in as root, then it switches to runlevel 6. "linux" reaches a point where it can not mount root, and then locks up hard. got md5sum? c4d8e6f0c6e21890d02f3d8d04a5aab6 VL6.0-SOHO-B1.5.iso linux is only there to boot already installed systems, there is no CLI installer yet. if you can run "gui 2" then login and try startx post back as much info as possible I would appreciate it. md5sum checks. Further tests indicate problems with the on-board Intel video. I tried B1 again, and it launches installer on same machine On a machine with nVidia video, B1.4 launches installer. Attached are the Xorg log files. Xorg.0.log shows error messages. B1.6 on laptop with Intel: Installer fixed. I took a custom install as I didn't burn the second disc. Clicked "I don't have it" when it asked for disc 2. Now problem with installed system. It locked up hard at point of configuring X-windows. Boot to TUI and run vxconf gives same result. Using vesa driver also causes hard lockup when entering init 4 On Saturday 07 November 2009 23:40:35 uel archuletta wrote: > B1.6 is up, it should fix the intel video issue > |

I booted to VL-Light on same machine, set up LILO with vga=normal, and set SOHO B1.6 to boot to TUI. Now I can run vxconf without it locking up. When I try "startx" it drops back to text mode with errors. Log files attached. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On Sunday 08 November 2009 08:26:15 Roy Stefanussen wrote: > B1.6 on laptop with Intel: > > Installer fixed. Roy, the last 2 lines in both of the log files read: Fatal server error: could not open default font 'fixed' I am not sure why but it looks like your fonts are not setup, or maybe they are missing. try running "cd / && sh /var/log/scripts/font-misc-misc-1.0.0-noarch-3" On Sun, Nov 8, 2009 at 7:42 AM, Roy Stefanussen <nig...@ci...>wrote: > I booted to VL-Light on same machine, > set up LILO with vga=normal, and set SOHO B1.6 to boot to TUI. > > Now I can run vxconf without it locking up. > When I try "startx" it drops back to text mode with errors. > Log files attached. > > > > ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > On Sunday 08 November 2009 08:26:15 Roy Stefanussen wrote: > > B1.6 on laptop with Intel: > > > > Installer fixed. Uel, That did indeed fix X :-) I now think my laptop is getting flaky. After encountering some more problems, like alsaconf not finding any soundcard, I decided to go back and try some other ISO's which worked last week. Sure enough, same problem with my KDE-Classic versions. Bummer. You can disregard my testing reports as being unreliable, and not representative.
