My suggestion is that we investigate what pieces, if any, of the vlapt
package that was supposed to have been deprecated, are still needed.
Include the /sbin/makeslapt script in the checkinstall package. IIRC,
there is a script that goes into /etc/profile.d called vlapt.sh. That
script puts the "useful information" on the console window. Move that
script into the bootscripts.
That's my $0.02 for now.
