We have a new iso. I have updated the installer and it's source to latest in case no wired connection during install. Also there are now intel drivers included so any one running intel graphics give this a go. Fixed some post install problems due to duplicity of functions. the iso is here: ftp://ftp-osl.osuosl.org/pub/vectorlinux/Uelsk8s/test/VL6.0-SOHO-A1.9.16.iso cheers, R Robert Lange vec...@ya... http://www.vectorlinux.com --- On Thu, 7/9/09, Newtor <gen...@gm...> wrote: > From: Newtor <gen...@gm...> > Subject: Re: [Vectorlinux-devel] new iso image for testing soho vl6.0 > To: "Vector Linux developer's list" <vec...@li...> > Received: Thursday, July 9, 2009, 10:00 PM > Hello all, > > Here's my notes from the install tries using the A1.9.15 > ISO. ok ill do that tonight. The new patched grub in the deps at vlcore then? The grub package is at vlcore. Also the gtkrc files to polish it up a bit. I still could not get kde to start on the last iso. Maybe you should look into that. Also, the user account import module is currently broken. Gimmie a couple of days next week to get it into shape. We should be able to put it out for public test by mid next week On Jul 10, 2009 4:08 PM, "Robert Lange" <vec...@ya...> wrote: ok ill do that tonight. The new patched grub in the deps at vlcore then? Hello, I've tried the GUI installer and have finally (A1.9.16) been successful installing the release. I thought this time I'd try the old TUI installer. Unfortunately, it was unable to find the install media on virtual cdrom (I'm using iso as virtual cdrom). Cannot proceed from this point. In a virtual sense, I would call this a show stopper. To me it seems odd that the GUInstaller can identify the virtual cdrom however the TUInstaller cannot. Hope this helps. The text installer does indeed need to be rewritten or at least adapted to the new iso format. This is the reason it can no longer see the image/install media. All my testing and about 80% of the coding are done is a virtual environment and never had any problems. I think the only thing that should need special attention at this point should be the option to inport existing user accounts and settings. The services option also needs testing/debugging. These are important but should by no means be showstoppers. My main concern with the current iso is my inability to start kde. It does boot right into kdm but I'm unable to start a session after that. Id like everyone to test the current stuff and polish out as much as we can. I think we should be ready for a public beta by mid next week On Jul 10, 2009 7:20 PM, "John B" <joh...@gm...> wrote: Newtor wrote: > > Hello, > > I've tried the GUI installer and have finally (A1.9.16) been successful... Hello John and M0E, Thanks for the explanation of the TUI installers current status; explains why I cannot continue past step 1. I'll stick with the GUI installer for testing right now. So far, it seems to be coming along nicely. M0E offered me some advise in getting my network active prior to running the installer which I will begin doing from now on. I'm snagging A1.9.17 now and will put it to test a little later. Thanks all!! Guys, I hate to do this, but I just once again, finished tweaking the grub2 package. This time, I patched it up to make sure it labels our running installations correctly. Also changed it so that it doesn't generate a "recovery" entry for every os found, only for the one currently running. I'd also like to see you guys put the .initrd config files in place how about a delta? |
