[Vectorlinux-devel] glib and building vlc on VL6 SOHO Beta

I just managed to build vlc 1.0.3 on VL6 SOHO Beta and it complains
about a buggy version of glibc, suggesting that one should disable a
couple of things to build it. Afterwards, when run from a console, you
get this message:

VLC media player 1.0.3 Goldeneye
LibVLC has detected an unusable buggy GNU/libc version.
Please update to version 2.8 or newer.

Do we really need to update this, or would this be too big a change at
this point?
