Hello,
1.26, r802:
I did a little more testing with regional settings and languages in mind. Here are
a couple issues I came across:
-kde language packs do not get installed (i.e. not on cd1 or cd2)
-Installer options that don't seem to affect KDM/KDE:
-Regional Settings: used spanish installer, latin america keyboard mapping, 104 keyboard
-At user creation: checked the "use regional settings for user" option
-First boot: configuration using vxconf asks about keyboard mapping/layout even though I
chose the 'use regional settings for user' option mentioned above. I went ahead and chose
default us/102 keyboard.
-kdm uses new vxconf settings (us/102 keyboard mappings)
-kde uses new vxconf settings for user (us/102 keyboard mappings)
-In other words, the 'use regional settings for user' option at user account creation does
not seem to have any effect. Either that, or it's overwritten during vxconf configuration.
-I would expect that if a user checks the "use regional settings for user" option that they
would not like to have to repeat that step during the first boot.
-I can certainly understand the complexities of making all of these little things work
as a user may expect, especially when user expectations may be misguided. I'm only bringing
this up because I've seen posts in the past related to this (especially keyboard mappings).
Cheers, newt
