My installation results are similar
VM with 512MB ram emulating single core

Install process takes about 20-25 minutes from formatting partitions
to lilo screen.
KDE always crashes when you start it, unless you install VBOX guest
additions, then you actually get to use the desktop.
Always been like that, I dont know why.

I still have to bush out the bug where if the user does not click the
button, no face icon is used...  Been busy with more serious bugs, but
I'll get it there.
The root face icon you can do with the package.
