Hello Masta MCF, Thanks for the info about user account icons. I'm finishing up a test install right now and will choose a user icon to see if the problem resolves. There are two points of confusion that may have been tricking me the whole time: 1) When I get the user creation page. It actually shows a user icon in the button itself (i.e. little schoolboy with blue cap and red tie). I guess I've always assumed that would be the default user icon if the user doesn't change it. If that's not the case the perhaps that user icon preview should show a 'No Picture Selected' message instead to notify the user that there is in fact no user icon selected. 2) It's not totally obvious that the user icon button is actually a button. Don't get me wrong, _I_ know it's a button but it wouldn't expect that everyone would know it's a button. Perhaps some kind of indicator to that fact would be helpful (i.e. a raised look, a message to 'click here' to change icon, or simply a sentence in the 'Help' file for this page). I'll try to repeat the theme switching/kde menu breaking problem in this virtual test. If I can, then I'll try your suggestion on 16bit color mode. I'll also pay attention to this issue when I do more testing on real hardware to see if the problem persists. You're probably right, it's probably just a driver problem especially since I'm testing in vmware right now. Overall, it's not a big problem since a reboot fixed the issue until I messed with the themes again. Funny, what I ended up inadvertently doing last time was installing the KDE menu widget to the desktop though I didn't know it was there until I closes the widget installation window. The desktop KDE menu worked fine but the normal panel-docked kde menu did not. Well, maybe not so funny :D Cheers, newt -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=- Thursday, September 10, 2009, 11:35:36 AM, you wrote: MM> KDM user icons will not show unless you select an icon during user setup.
