try commenting out the cdrom section of your fstab.........seems we are keeping hal from doing its job there. I can't recreate the openoffice problem neither can uel........anyone  else having openoffice issues with this install???

looks like all thats required for cdrom bug is to comment out the cdrom reference in fstab since it conflicts with hal.
