we're not doing anything to the root home in particular, as we're only
setting the root password, everything else comes from pre-configured
home for root I guess.

I will get these permissions set as described above. Unless someone
else suggests differently by the end of the day.

I need you to do me a favor, boot up the ISO, cd or whatever you're booting.
when the installer loads up, open a terminal and show me the output of probepart
also show me the output of os-prober
