What we may be able to do regarding #5 in Bustere's annoyances is to add a change to the .bashrc file in /etc/skel that was proposed by Vanger in the forums: /usr/X11R6/bin/xhost local:root I've had this change in the .bashrc file in my home directory, and I don't run into an issue with opening GUI apps after su'ing to root. Assuming that Vec is comfortable with making this tweak, we just have to make sure that the change does not propagate to the .bashrc file for root. What say y'all?
