Please consider a myhtpc or meedio like front end.

Please have a look at "meedio" formally also known as
"myhtpc". The front end of myhtpc is pretty cool.

http://www.meedio.com

It is possible to download from the above site a trial
version so one can play a little bit around with the front
end. Which I think is one of the best I ever have seen.

The main changes to the current mediamvp front end
would be to have a

left side bar.
--------------
This contains command buttons for e.g play, shuffle,
toggle between file browser and playlist etc.

right side bar
-------------
This contains a playlist or file browser

Example:
--------
With myhtpc the following e.g. is possible:

When browsing audio directories it is possible
to place the cursor (highlight the directory) on a
directory and to press the play button.
After having done this all mp3 files contained
in this directory and all subdirectories are added to a
playlist. Then it is possible to switch with the left side bar
from file browser view to the playlist view and to start
the playing of the playlist.

Then e.g. with the left bar it is possible to activate
shuffle play or to switch back from playlist to filebrowser
to add more files to the playlist.

I've been working on some improvements to the interface.
    Check out progress here

Obviously, check the later dated directories :)

I'll post some new screens soon.

    Hi Ian,

yeah your skins look pretty cool ! Nevertheless the advantage
of the myhtpc frontend is that it can be operated with just six
    buttons (up,down,left,right,OK and Play).
If someone is interessted then I could prepare some
screenshots of the myhtpc menues and some sort of a state
machine. The state machine would show the bindings between
the buttons, menues, submenues, playlist and file browser.

    Best Regards,
