I captured the analog video from my camcorder using the Dazzle DVC100 capture card and Virtuldub2. I was surprised to findout when I analyzed the .AVI file produced by Virturaldub2 that its Frame Type was Progressive and not Interleaved. Since there is no option that I could find in Virtualdu2 to select Top or bottom field first, I thought the Frame Type would be Interleaved. Am I missing something? Is the .AVI file produced by Virtualdb2 Progressive or Interleaved?

I may be wrong, never paid much attention to interlaced content. From what I remember encoding of frame type / field order is vaguely implemented in AVI. You just have to specify it correctly (manually) where it is required (e.g. for any deinterlacing filter).
