No

When loading a full video from a DVD that has AC-3 audio, the audio is not decoded so when I play it, there is no audio. If I put it into Audio/full processing mode I get the error that there is no decoder.

¿How did you open DVD? ¿Did you try to open it with caching input driver? Maybe installing DTS_AC3_Source_Filter_x32 will enable it.
MakeMKV may help you to direct copy DVD to PC for later processing.

Before encode a DVD movie, you need to rip it in one single files... Use DVDShrink, it's a very old freeware from Win XP/7, you can normally find it every where or go to the official website & download it for 5$... One of the best & most easy, it don't encode because it's a raw copy video/audio... After that if always a problem, use MKVToolNix & then VD2 can read it without any problem...
