No

When I connect to device "0 Microsoft WMD Image capture (win23) (VFW) " it works in preview and capture but under "video" tab I get source and format and in source "select a video device:" I can select "Conexant Polaris Video Capture" but no " video source" or "capture pin " or capture filter" or "crossbar" are grayed out and I cant get to there menu's but if I select device "1 Conexant Polaris video capture (DirectShow)" I get " video source" or "capture pin " or capture filter" or "crossbar" and their menu's but i get a black preview screen and it always "fails to start capture"... so it seems that the Direct show has an issue but no setting I can find fixes that.... the capture device works with EzGrabber software But quality is horrible from lack of codec's and works with VLC but in VLC I get only sound in the preview and no video but it does capture the video fine... I need VirtualDub2 because I'm converting VCR tapes to digital. I found out about this program for this YouTube video... https://youtu.be/sn_TDa9zY1c "How to convert VHS videotape to 60p digital video (NTSC)" and it makes the quality equal to original VCR recordings. I will see if I can find the original version of VirtualDub and try it and report back.

    Don't use VFW, but DirectShow, try using some compatible settings first, on capture mode:
    Video, Set Custom Format 640 x 480 YV12;
    Capture, Capture Settings, Frame Rate: 25 (or 29.970 if NTSC).
    Video, Compression, Lagarith Lossless Codec

    Also, to capture from VHS, it's better to use 720 x 240 (or 720x288 if its PAL)and then recompress resizing to 720x480 (576 on PAL), because VHS only captures half of the horizontal lines, and you won't have to use deinterlace filter. That's why I first capture using a lossless codec and then recompress to H264 or H265.

      First thanks for the response! I'm using NTSC... I will try the suggestion soon as i can get the capture device to work in DirectShow see My problem is that "DirectShow" doesn't work at all it only works in "VFW"... the capture dongle when loaded in "DS" is just a black screen, if you look at the pictures you can see it.

    Try using Video, Preview (System); Overlay it's faster but not always work. Even if you can't see, you may try capture a few seconds and check capture file to see if it's blank or not.

      Yeah it all ways fails to capture... I think it has something to do with windows 10 pro.... I loaded it on an old Dell 9 MINI with xp and it worked but the cpu is to slow so I know my capture card is good I will try compatibility mode or just use windows 7... oh and i did find VirtualDub 1 and it had the same result.
