Hi All,

(deutsch oder englisch jetzt? ;))

I just uploaded the skinning support to the cvs.
Well, it works but I know that the code needs to be cleaned and more 
variable checks, especially for the skin directory scanning 
mechanism, should be added; perhaps I'll do it tonight...
At current, only the login form uses the new mechanism.

Chris, the first thing I noticed is that you use PHP4 :-)

So, right with the first commit we are at a desicion:

PHP3 only or already PHP4?

pro PHP3: 
+ Runs on even old installations
+ is compatible with PHP4
+ PHP4 doesn't provide functionality that we urgently need-so why restrict to 
PHP4 
+ has some small functionality that is not available in PHP4 (which we don't 
need - imho)

pro PHP4: 
+ let's use the new syntax and easy coding style/readability
(if someone searches through the code, I already made some statments there)

Any other pros?

From my point of view, we can use PHP4 (even if I then have to update my 
server)

What do the others think?

Jonatan:  Can you please subscribe to the list too as all the others have 
subscribed already?

Uh, how that? I never used PHP3 so I'm quite familiar with PHP4 and 
all of the 'new' features as the syntax and comment signs.

I think that PHP4 would be the right choice. First of all, the new 
version (should) work(s) faster than php3 because it uses the Zend 
optimizer. Even on my 'old' home server, a Cyrix 6x86-166 with ~100 
MB RAM, it runs very fast even performing large database queries and 
sorting routines.

I just posted a second login template and updatet the main program. Download the newest cvs version and play a little bit with vboxLayout- >skin=0 in the main program file. See how it can change the whole 
outfit of php4vbox ;) 

Another thing, cvs still asks me every time I submit or download from 
the repository for my password. I use the plain text version (rpm cvs-
1.11-3, rh7.1) under linux. Any ideas what could be wrong?

It was the same for me, my HOME was created when I did a
$ ssh cvs.vbox4php.sourceforge.net -l michaelrenner

Now I can check out without giving a password.
However: I have probs to execute the program. I'am not
familiar with OOP, so I need more time to understand the code:
Parse error: parse error in cvboxlayout.inc.php3 on line 45
Is there a special php4 syntax? btw: why don't we chance the
file extension from 'php3' to 'php'?

Let me explain what this peace of code does:
foreach ($this->objects as $obj => $objstr)

$this->objects is a simple array in the form
$objects["theObjectName"] = $theObjectValue;
foreach puts every object and the corresponding value into two 
separate variables:
every theObjectName (also named "key" in the php docu language) is 
put into $obj, every theObjectValue into $objstr.
I don't know if this is a special php4 function as I never used php3 
as deep as I use php4 now.

this would be a good idea as some people use both php interpreter 
versions depending on the ext (php3 -> 3; php4,php,phps -> 4)

Sorry Leute..

aber ich hab wenig zeit im mom.. viel zu schaffen und mein zivi-dienst ist
anstrengend :(
und dann hab ich noch die internet-rechnung im nacken.. ohne flat (fuck off
t-schrottline) ist das alles ein wenig teuer!
und als ich mich in die mailingliste einschreiben wollte isses auch schon
wieder verreckt..! schrott eben!

und dann noch was: welchen ssh-client verwendet ihr? ich hab mich leider
noch nicht so detailiert mit sourceforge auseinandersetzten können... ich
hab es bisher nicht mal geschafft mir die aktuellen vbox4php-files zu
leechen, schlecht gell?! *g*
