Hi, finally I'm able to view the current build. My version of PHP was build without calendar-support and so easter_date() was not a declared function (n.b. perhaps this should be added to our faq ;)); I found on php.net some workaround- soultions, calculating easter_date not via the (not) included function but manually via some mathematics... Ok, I'm really happy because I finally got PHP 4.0.6 working -with gd2 and freetype-support, and with the missing calendar module build-in. In fact, I never had compiled PHP, I used the RPMs instead... (after 10 hours of work I'd prefer having a RPM installed). Greetings Chris :)) -- christophe thil | ch...@th... | icq[10113170] |

Hi, I just downgraded to PHP 4.04pl1 RPM because I couldn't get 4.06 TTF support working :( Now the following error occours: Fatal error: Call to undefined function: easter_date() in /var/www/html/projekte/vbox4php/fncpublicholiday.inc.php on line 29 I think a dynamically loaded module for php is missing, can somebody look at /usr/lib/php4/ what modules are listed there? Hello again, it's been quite for some time, so it's time to tell something ;-) Okay, after some sever problems at home (migrating my server from SuSE to Debian), I'm finally back on coding. I have seen, that Christophe has changed the file extensions already, so it's not my task any more (ehm, thanks Christophe). I have uploaded a new homepage, still ugly but now with more information (more to come). At least, if you know some links, please let me know (private email is enough). I have included the localconfig.inc.php file in the CVS, which is the file to store your local definitions. So please don't overwrite any configuration in vboxconf.inc.php anymore, just edit this new file (and certainly, don't commit any changes in there ;-). Certainly, if you have to add some global definitions to the vboxconf-file, just do it. I worked a bit on the code style, but without any functional changes. I started to seperate the POST and GET evaluation into a special file. This should make at the end the code in vbox4php.php better readable and ensure all GET and POST evaluation in a seperate module. That's all for now, Philipp |

Hallo, ich verstehe nicht ganz was der Zweck der neuen Funktion ist. GET/POST-Variablen werden noch von PHP immer in $<objectname> =FCbergeben? Moin, after compiling and installing (puh, what a night) php4 (4.0.3) I'am able to start the script. I use debian potato with small changes, eg. apache 1.3.12 instead 1.3.9 which is shipped with potato. Philipp, it is a good idea to choose 'php' as the extension. Christophe: I use cvs 1.10.7 together with OpenSSH 2.3.0 without problems (in fact: I never uploaded code to sourceforge, but I'am working at the 'Sprachenliste' at the moment). An other topic: I'am traveling to Prague in 2 weeks. I thought about to .... | |D-72072 Tuebingen Germany | |Germany Don't drink as root! Let me explain what this peace of code does: foreach ($this->objects as $obj => $objstr) $this->objects is a simple array in the form $objects["theObjectName"] = $theObjectValue; foreach puts every object and the corresponding value into two separate variables: every theObjectName (also named "key" in the php docu language) is put into $obj, every theObjectValue into $objstr. I will volunteer to implement this. It will be an require (this is more or less the right one) in the init process of cvboxConf. This will then redirect to a file which I will call "vboxConfLocal.inc.php3" I will put a dummy file into CVS. Then update this to your local needs and never commit any changes!!! If there needs to be a change in there, just post it on this list, everyone has to update then manually. Okay? Philipp |

Chris, the first thing I noticed is that you use PHP4 :-) So, right with the first commit we are at a desicion: PHP3 only or already PHP4? pro PHP3: + Runs on even old installations + is compatible with PHP4 + PHP4 doesn't provide functionality that we urgently need-so why restrict to PHP4 + has some small functionality that is not available in PHP4 (which we don't need - imho) pro PHP4: + let's use the new syntax and easy coding style/readability (if someone searches through the code, I already made some statments there) Any other pros? From my point of view, we can use PHP4 (even if I then have to update my server) What do the others think? Hi, wouldn't it be possible to use a per-user-include not synced within the cvs which overwrites the predefined variables in config.inc.php3? chris -- christophe thil | ch...@th... | icq[10113170] |

Okay, here is a small disadvantage of the CVS work. It's the config stuff. Currently you will find in CVS the file vboxconf.php3. This stores all the global definition and the configuration. As for the last weeks, this has been easy for me, as I was able to place my local configuration even into the CVS, but when we want to work on one vbox4php together I assume that we have different configuration habbits (at least the IPs for the vboxd will be different). Therefore we need a different approach within CVS: I think, as the class cvboxConf already has an Init-Function, we use this Init-Function to parse a local Text-Configfile. This Text-Configfile does contain the individual configuration and is not synced with all the CVS-commits/updates. This has the disadvantage that on every access to the vbox4php site, this file must be parsed, which is much slower than with predefined configs. On the other hand, for each release we can skip this local parsing and place all the configuration into the vboxConf directly. Or we define an include to the individual settings as a php-config, but then on each new configuration item, you need to add this manually. Hopefully I made the problem clear. What do you think about this approach? Do you have another idea/suggestion? Philipp |

20010826: - Made the MESSAGE part in the config to a combo box (still no upload). It displays all *.msg files in the user/messages directory. 20010825: - Made the SCRIPT part in the config to a combo box. It displays all *.tcl files in the users directory. - Small cleanups - Made a little homepage and uploaded it. |

First changelog: 20010824: - Added this CHANGELOG file - CONF: made section STANDARD in RINGS able to edit the RINGS (the other entries should not be changable) - CONF: Simplified the code a bit by seperating the RINGS and DAYS generation. - Added logo to repository - Added TODO file to repository - Added fctpublicholida.inc.php3 to repository (not used yet) - Removed Quanta-Projectfile from repository (I don't think anybody else than me can use it) Until so far from V0.27: - Yes we are on Sourceforge now :-) - Added the configuration for the user. Now the user can config his own VBOX.CONF file. - seperated the code in different files: + vbox4php.php3: File for the general code reaction + cvboxio.inc.php3: Contains all of the Input/Output functions on the system (i.e. session, conf, vboxd) + cvboxconf.inc.php3: Contains the configuration and all global variables + displayxxx.inc.php3: All files for the display, there is nowhere else code for the screen output (beside of debug messages) - Rewrote part of the code and beautified it a bit (at least I like it this way). - Remade the whole indent stuff, which is now conform to most other projects - Renamed a lot of the variables - Some of the old functionality is still not in complete function again (i.e. debug) |
