Hi, Every time I do a submit, the valueList looses the paging information. Here is a quick description of what I am trying to do: I want to display thru a jsp a list of rows made of a name plus an editable boolean field represented with a checkbox. In the form there is a submit button to process the changes in the checkboxes. So, in order to save the paging information, before processing every request (but the submits) I perform a call to ValueListInfo valueListInfo = (ValueListInfo) valueListHandlerHelper.getValueListInfo(request, "authlist"); valueListHandlerHelper.backupInfoFor(request, valueListInfo, "authlist"); However, after each submit, the paging information is lost. Browsing in the ValueList code, I saw that in the function ValueListRetriever.doEndTag(), which retrieves the ValueListInfo eventually passed to the adapter, the ValueListInfo is retrieved as follows: info= ValueListRequestUtil.buildValueListInfo(….) But ValueListRequestUtil.buildValueListInfo will never retrieve the backedup ValueListInfo, as it does not look into the session, but only within the request. Should ValueListRetriever.doEndTag() be calling info=valueListHandlerHelper.getValueListInfo(request, "authlist"); instead? Or am I trying to use the backupInfoFor for something it is not intended for? In this case could anyone point me how to save the paging information so it gets retrieve by the ValueListRetriever.doEndTag() ? I have also noticed that for every request (either a submit or not) I get this log messages: ERROR ValueList 'whatIsThisStuffFor' was not found in the scope 'session'! (_ValueListSpaceTag.java:138_) [http-8080-3] - net.mlw.vlh.web.tag.ValueListSpaceTag WARN No ValueListConfigBean defined, using the default configuration. (_ValueListSpaceTag.java:319_) [http-8080-3] - net.mlw.vlh.web.tag.ValueListSpaceTag Any help would be much appreciated... thanks Bruno ---------------------------------------------------------------- I am using valuelist 0.1.8 Spring1.2.6 Here is the part for valueList in the jsp: <form id="valueListForm" method="post"> <vlh:root value="whatIsThisStuffFor" id="authlist" url="?" includeParameters="authlist*" scope="session" > <vlh:retrieve name="userAdapter" /> <table cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0"> <tr> <td align="left" nowrap="true"> <c:out value="${authlist.totalNumberOfEntries}"/> Total - Page (<c:out value="${authlist.pagingPage}"/> of <c:out value="${whatIsThisStuffFor.valueListInfo.totalNumberOfPages}"/>) </td> <td align="right"> <div id="paging"> <vlh:paging pages="5"/> </div> </td> <td align="right"> <div class="button"><div class="buttonLeftSide"> </div><a id="button_editElection" class="contentsButton" href="javascript:document.getElementById('valueListForm').submit();">Submit</a><div class="buttonRightSide"> </div></div> </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="3"> <table width="450" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" style="text-align:center;"> <vlh:row bean="voterAndAuthorization" > <vlh:column title="name" property="name" > <c:out value="${voterAndAuthorization.name.fullName}" /> </vlh:column> <vlh:checkbox name="activatedIds" title="authorized" property="active" > <!-- If checked, the checkbox will be part of a multiple values field with the element id as value --> <input type="checkbox" name="activatedIds" value="<c:out value="${voterAndAuthorization.id}" />" <c:if test="${voterAndAuthorization.authorized}"> checked="checked" </c:if> ></input> <!-- in this other multiple values field the ids of the elements will be kept --> <input type="hidden" name="elementIds" value="<c:out value="${voterAndAuthorization.id}"/>"></input> </vlh:checkbox> </vlh:row> </table> </td> </tr> </table> </vlh:root> <!-- the submit is used only to submit the changes, not to navigate thus when the changeActivate field is included in the request it indicates that the user has submitted changes --> <input type="hidden" name="changeActivate" value="true" /> </form> |

I am trying to work through Kris Thompson's posting on how to integrate ValueList with Struts. I am have a heck of a time trying to structure my SQL query as a value parameter in applicationContext.xml. Here is my query. String query = "SELECT * FROM reports AS R, companies AS C WHERE C.id = R.companyId AND C.latitude <= '" + highLat + "' AND C.latitude >= '" + lowLat + "' AND R.status='active'" + "AND C.longtitude >= '" + lowLong + "' AND C.longtitude <= '" + highLong + "' AND MATCH(R.posterReport, C.companyName) AGAINST('\"" + searchString + "\"' IN BOOLEAN MODE)"; It would be appreciate if anyone could shed some light onto how I would structure this query in applicationContext.xml. I am also a little unclear as to how the values in my query get passed to valueList. Must each value be a request attribute? Thanks for the help, Jeff |

Hi, I am doing MVC and wanted to use ValueList tag to display a user's search results. Then I realized there is no way for me to pass my user input into the adapter! Am I missing something? How do I pass my form input from the controller into the adapter? The only thing I can think of is to have a dummy adapter which returns a ValueList which I think populate by calling my service method directly. Steps: 1. Controller is invoked 2. I retrieve user input 3. I invoke the dummy VLH adapter to get ValueList 4. I call my service which returns a list 5. I put the list into the ValueList Is there a better way? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Hi Guys, Sorry for contacting you personally, but I had no luck subscribing to the maillist. I am trying to implement the Valuelist to the big project, which has the database structure connected through the Hibernate. All the business logic with Hibernate configuration and objects with mapping is placed into the EJB. I'm trying to configure Valuelist to work with EJB/Hibernate objects/mapping which I already have in EJB, but it doesn't work. That's what I have for it (applicationContext.xml): <bean id="mySessionFactory" class="org.springframework.jndi.JndiObjectFactoryBean"> <property name="jndiName"> <value>java:/hibernate/HibernateFactory</value> </property> </bean> This block really weird for me - I had no idea how to connect it with already existing EJB/Hibernate and thought that the only was is to use JNDI mapping. <bean id="valueListHandler" singleton="true" class="net.mlw.vlh.DefaultValueListHandlerImpl"> <property name="config.adapters"> <map> <entry key="jobcategory"> <bean class="net.mlw.vlh.adapter.hibernate.Hibernate20Adapter"> <property name="sessionFactory"><ref bean="mySessionFactory"/></property> <property name="defaultNumberPerPage"><value>20</value></property> <property name="defaultSortDirection"><value>asc</value></property> <property name="hql"> <value> FROM com.myproject.objects.JobCategory AS jc /~name: WHERE jc.description LIKE {ctgname} ~/ /~sortColumn: ORDER BY jc.[sortColumn] [sortDirection]~/ </value> </property> <property name="defaultFocusPropertyObjectAlias"><value>vo</value></property> <property name="maxRowsForFocus"><value>160000</value></property> <property name="removeEmptyStrings"><value>true</value></property> </bean> </entry> </map> </property> </bean> Unlikely, during the deploy time it says that "hibernate is not bound" and fails to deploy. All other modules works just fine with this EJB/Hibernate objects. I'm not very good with Spring and Valuelist and would be very thankfull to you for any advises and suggestions! Thank you so much. -- Alexander Prohorenko. |

This can be done. The FileSystemAdapter for example is build in a similar manner. I would look at that one and figre out how to talk to you dao from your new implementation of AbstractValueListAdapter. Hi, I checked the valuelist.war demo, and noticed there's a new feature sample called "Grouped Columns" in the list, which is added in v0.1.7. What the name implied to me, should be something to make a complicated table head, such as group 3 column under a whole big column... But when I click and take a look at it ... nothing happened?! I con't see there is anything special about the table. It's just the same as the first simple sample. I grasped the screen and made a .jpg as attachment file of this mail. Sorry I don't know if this maillist support attach file because this is my first time using it. I use jetty-5.1.2 under windows2k. Any suggests? Thanks. stoneman |
