There are patches for the below 2 (at my work) showstoppers bugs. The first one is simple and no risk (and is in 3 patch pieces now). The second bug is somewhat more risky (but no problem at work on big applications). 255353 --track-lockorders=no must disable laog building + patch (fixing also sanity check crash) 250101 - huge "free" memory usage due to m_mallocfree.c "superblocks fragmentation" Philippe |

May be add 256600 from trunk r11478 + r11479?
"Log:
Add replacements for strcasecmp and related functions which have
hyper-optimised versions which defeat valgrind in recent versions
of glibc."
Thank You,

From: Julian S. <js...@ac...> - 2011-01-31 17:52:30

Greetings.
I'd like to release 3.6.1 on Friday next week (11 Feb) or ASAP
thereafter. The main aim is to fix low-risk bugs, mostly missing SSE4
instructions, missing syscall wrappers and tool crashes/asserts. Also
to make sure it works well with recent distros (Fedora 14, Ubuntu
10.10) and fix easy-to-fix breakage on MacOSX 10.6.
Below is a list of fixed bugs and ones I'd like to get fixed prior to
the release. If you know of any other showstopper bugs which ought to
be fixed for 3.6.1, please speak up.
The following bugs have been fixed and will be (or have been) merged
to 3_6_BRANCH:
n-i-bz - DHAT bug fixes and speedups
n-i-bz - shmat assert for Massif
n-i-bz - perl bug in cg_annotate
n-i-bz - fix wrong docs for VALGRIND_CREATE_BLOCK and VALGRIND_DISCARD.
254957 - Test code failing to compile due to changes in memcheck.h in v3.6.0
250038 - ppc64: Altivec lvsr and lvsl instructions fail their regtest
255418 - amd64: ROUND{P,S}{S,D} non-imm rmode
257011 - amd64: PBLENDW
258870 - amd64: EXTRACTPS
256968 - amd64: BLENDVPD, BLENDVPS, PBLENDVB
256387 - x86: AAD, AAM
210481 - amd64: REX.W POPQ
262995 - amd64: PCMPxSTRx $0x00
261966 - amd64: CRC32{B,W,L,Q}
194402 - amd64: FXSAVE and FXRSTOR, both REX.W=0 and =1 versions
256669 - amd64: LOOPNEL
254420 - memory pool tracking broken
255966 - Slowness when using mempool annotations
255888 - closing valgrindoutput tag outputted to log-stream on error
255822 - --gen-suppressions can create invalid files
257276 - Missing case in memcheck
I'd like for at least the following bugs to get fixed before release,
if possible. I can chase the core, memcheck and the
common-to-helgrind+drd bugs (although will not turn away help
fixing them or any others :-) It would be good if maintainers of
other tools could please chase the bugs listed below.
249435 - callgrind: Analyzing wine programs triggers a crash
246152 - callgrind: internal error after pthread_cancel on 32 Bit Linux
255009 - drd, helgrind: crash on chmod with invalid parameter
255130 - core: readdwarf3.c parse_type_DIE confused by gcc gnat Ada dwarf
188572 - memcheck: Valgrind on Mac should suppress setenv() mem leak
255358 - drd, helgrind: threaded fork causes crash
255533 - memcheck: crashed with "impossible" happened
256043 - massif: (update_stack_stats): Assertion failed.
257027 - memcheck: address false negatives (amd64, custom malloc) (edit)
258294 - OSX memcheck: pclose, wait4: spurious errors
258399 - OSX core: WARNING: unhandled syscall: unix:330
263877 - ARM: undefined coprocessor instruction on ARMv7
