Some comments here first (for both of these patches).

The PIE changes look OK. I don't know if anyone else on this list uses 
LLVM on Linux, so this is not the kind of issue that we see. As for 
musl, I gave up with it due to Rich Felker's atrocious patronising 
manner on IRC. The last straw was when he tried to explain how Helgrind 
should handle leaked mutex locks. Helgrind has never been able to run 
correctly with musl.
