The valgrind CVS is hosted at sourceforge.net, which tends to be
overloaded at peak times - which usually seems to be during the US
working day.

I'm getting the same problem, and Richard Boulton mentioned it earlier.
All I can suggest is to try later, and if it doesn't resolve itself, to
report the problem to the sourceforge people.
