Google APIs doesn't seem to have the right place that we can=20 start. For the front ends, we can always use a simple interface that=20 converts the search string in TSCII or translierated roman into=20 Unicode and sends it to google front page, and then converts=20 the results and sends them back to user. API is somewhat of=20 an overkill here. For searching and indexing the pages, the APIs don't offer much as for as I have seen. -Sivaraj. |

Team, I am trying to get in touch with google people as well. Google has published APIs and they have the web services model. For more information check this page. http://www.google.com/apis/ We may need to go through Infitt to convince google to collect and categorize tamil content from different encodings. In the mean time we can develop APIs on our side to searcch tamil content in unicode. If we have more and more tools available in Unicode, it will be a big boost for the tamil content providers to move to Unicode. We could even accept requests in TSCII or transliterated english and convert that into Unicode and search. Sivaraj, you may have already given some thoughts about this.
