UtopiaBB has formed a formal roadmap leading up to the release of 1.0 (codenamed "Barracuda"). We're about 30% of the way to reaching the first Alpha release, due out November 30th. Click the following link to view the entire roadmap:

Welcome everybody. UtopiaBB is a message board that will be written entirely in Python. It aims to be secure, fast, highly modular, and feature rich.

We started UtopiaBB out of contempt with the current situation with major message boards out there. Of the major open source boards, the only one with a good user base and feature set is phpBB, and it does not allow for true public participation in the developer process. Also, its feature set falls far short of proprietary solutions, they have a poor security track record, and lack a real project timeline. A quick glance at http://www.big-boards.com shows that most major communities use a custom solution, as nothing quite does the job right.... read more
