Well, I don't know if this is setup to automaticly advance through all consecutive parts of this mix, but as a feature request, it would be wonderful if all the sections could then be merged in to 1 file. Here is a summary of what consists of these 7parts YouTube - part 4 - djsonofsam stomping classic '98 UK hard house ... Full hour long mix in seven parts. djsonofsam on the decks mixing UK classic hard house and techno trance from '98 - 2001. with tracklistings. www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vxMmdytL0M OK back again live, as a reminder "t" is not grabbing title from the page. Thanks in advance Hart |

OK, Dallas, I tried usnatch here on shellworld, but still need to test the hard-drive. Looks like we broke 2 items. In the past I had this item "running lynx on keepvid" now I get the question about file name, but it never runs lynx--and-even after typing a name, just saves an html trailfile around 10k. Still not sure if or which option I should pick after . for extern menu? On my screen I see part of the menu of the youtube page, as where before, mostly saw a menu of custome choices for grabbing or saving. Thanks in advance Hart |

Larry: Well some1 posted 1st round of Boxing from 1964 on youtube. So I tried different ways to grab it, however, no luck. First now, this was the link http://www.youtube.com/oembed?url=http%3A//www.youtube.com/watch?v%3DFQ3nDUfoK7M&format=json When I get there, first 3 links have the title of the event, but the normal links which I remember, about translated and length may be gone. So not knowing where the video was, I tried usnatch with both , and . I cannot find the section of usnatch where I can download orriginal video. Anyway, I get to keepvid, after "please leftclick to download this video" Keepvid never mentions working links, otherwise says "try again" The link for help is hidden--and-even worse with their e-mail address hidden away, I have no way to write them, so can any of you on this list write, or Dallas, please provide an actual e-mail address--and-I will surely inform them that their service is becoming less useable each week. Then from a commandline I tried useing usnatch -i with an url, but it bombs out as well Thanks in advance Hart Dallas: I fumbled around a bit with the URL you gave, pulled down some swf file etc. Starting over, I took the substring from that link that starts with the second string of 'http: http%3A//www.youtube.com/watch?v%3DFQ3nDUfoK7M&format=json and replaced the '%3A' with ':' and the '%3D' with '=' to get this url: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FQ3nDUfoK7M&format=json I went to that page with lynx, and executed usnatch as I normally do and it played about a 4 minute round from the fight. When I can get back to working on usnatch, I'll try to put some checks for this sort of thing in it. Going to keepvid.com's page, extracting the obfuscated mail address you mentioned in your mail the other day: kee...@gm... Regards, Dallas E. OK, this morning I tried grabbing a video with Lynx through keepvid. Around link #8 says something about continue with this code, if code is not clear, try again. My guess is some kind of varification with a continue button. Anyway as of now keepvid is not workable. Thanks in advance Hart |

Well, Dallas, today I went looking for content which was not on Youtube. A Google search took me to DailyMotion. I seem to remember Usnatch working with it before. What happens is that all is well until we are at keep vid. Both the download links for .flv and .mp4 may be javascript or something. Other thing I noticed is that the video I am trying to grab is essentially from Hulu. I did varify usnatch is still working with Youtube. Here are the steps I went through After going to dailymotion, I sit on link #36 type in apollo 11 After submitting, then link #91 is a 43minute FoxNews special which I cannot grab. Thanks in advance-and-will hope to see you at Saturday's LUG Hart |

Well, Dallas, I think you said you had never heard of this video site? Here's a link to a whitehouse item. Lucky they also have direct links from the whitehouse blog, but I'm sure there are unique items worth grabbing http://www.vimeo.com/4047874 Thanks in advance Hart |

OK this site has some CNN-International items, so when I run usnatch on http://www.dailymotion.com/relevance/search/cnn+international/video/x8oj8y_discovery-launches-to-iss_tech Eventually at keepvid links 14-and-15 are to download. 14 is a 404 error--and 15 `could be some kind of javascript or other anoyance Thanks in advance Hart |

Well, from a google alert on a style of music I follow, I was lead to this site--and while through the links I see references to youtube, none of the urls relate. Anyway, I tried with usnatch, but no luck, but I did visit youtube directly-and-grab these music videos. This site is http://www.last.fm/music/Tony+De+Vit/+videos/+1-oWIzTYVUcIM I even tried pasting that into both vlc-and-mplayer, no luck Thanks in advance Hart |

Wow, Dallas, thanks for testing. I just tried 1 of the sites--and was finally able to grab an mp4, which went through googlevideo from youtube Seemed like Friday-and-Saturday it failed O, I guess we cannot use vimio yet, or some of these other sites? Hart |

Well, since Friday I cannot seem to grab anything once I am at the keepvid screen. Sure it says "links found on" site I am at, there are still links for flv and mp4, but when I go there, I get 404 and basicly blank pages, or other unexplained issues. Obviously this is when running the Lynx external process Thanks in advance Hart |

Dallas:
Checking these with FireFox, both URLs reported
something to the effect of 'Not There' - they are no longer around
for anyone.
However when I tried using gnash, it did try to do something,
and with one switch adjusted properly, reported an empty xml
file, apparently a playlist.
With something still available, perhaps the xml file can be
parsed for a true video URL.

Larry: In the year or so that usnatch has been available, I always wondered if there would be a way to grab a single file, instead of having to manually save each of several sections? Youtube has a single file limit, unlike blip.tv or even google video, when I was able to access it. Dallas: Maybe an hour ago, I downloaded an .mp4 from video.google.com. Can you give an example of a google video that's given you download and/or play problems? Larry: Seemingly only certain non-profet providers such as Research channel which are able to post complete longform programming. I think many of these files on youtube have a [more] or [less] Where this Dallas: The 'more' or 'less' I recall seeing on youtube pages had to do with 'more' or 'less' of the comments people posted when they uploaded the video. Lary: really jumped out at me was a site where they post Political videos. In 1 case there were 10 sections--and-the moderator says they will advance. Obviously I can see where the retrieveal time in Lynx would be quite long before we would be prompted to download. Here are some sample sites Watch the MSNBC debate here: http://www.youdecide2008.com/video/video-republican-candidat es-debate-in-california/ Watch the FOX News debate here: http://www.youdecide2008.com/video/fox-news-republican-debat e-video-from-south-carolina/ Dallas: These sites present the video's in flash .swf files. I'm currently trying to install the latest gnash, to see if it can handle them. While I don't think it has a framebuffer or vesa driver for playing in raw console, the older versions I tried before did have an audio-only switch which seemed to allow playing in raw console. When I tried this earlier version, I'd run into other problems, but playing in the console with the video turned off did not seem to be it. Larry: Many times I don't grab some of these items, as they are not complete--and I don't know how in Linux to combine these? Dallas: I don't recall trying this but you might be able to splice them all together with mencoder, something along the lines of $mencoder ....bunch of parameters.... -o outfile 1.flv 2.flv ....nth.flv another approach is to rencode them all into mp whatever, and simply cat them all together - crude as it is, I think that will work with mpeg formats. Larry: Thanks in advance for any future improvements. Youtube is probably the best thing to come along, as its such a universal uploading place, but for so long not workable in Lynx Hart --------------------------------------------- This message was sent using Endymion MailMan. http://www.endymion.com/products/mailman/ |
