UTUCS.com IRC Services: Beta Release Info

As you have probably all been wondering, there will be 3 betas (at least), and 2 RCs, at least, before a stable version of UTUCS.com IRC Services.

The UTUCS.com Development Team is currently in need of coders for the 1.0.0 release of UTUCS.com IRC Services. We have posted on the Project Help Wanted pages - however, we are putting more info here.

If you came here by Project Help Wanted, and wish to apply, please go to irc.utucs.com and /msg Eddie, or memo me if I'm not online.

In addition to the UTUCS.com IRC Services project, UTUCS.com has also developed utucs-ircd, an IRCd based on Bahamut 1.4.36p3. This IRCd will have full support for UTUCS.com IRC Services, as long as Bahamut.

Also, we may not use protocols in the UTUCS.com IRC Services version. We hope to have this in v1.0.0 or v2.0.0, at least, as this will make it easier to add support for other IRCds. However, UTUCS.com IRC Services will already support many IRCds (even more than Anope / IRCServices v5!)

As you notice, CVS has been messed up for our project. Please ignore everything from CVS - this code is also non-working (it has some source code, though). Even if CVS is not updated, we're still working to develop the first beta release of UTUCS.com IRC Services. When this is released, UTUCS.com IRC Services will be in Pre-Alpha stage - just like utucs-ircd is (at this time of writing).

In addition to all of this, just like utucs-ircd, we hope to have AMD64/SPARC/ia64 support. However, this requires using multiple machines. We have developers who are going to port however (if they have these boxes, running a UNIX operating system). All of these will be made on either Linux, FreeBSD, or Solaris.

If you wish to talk to some developers of UTUCS.com IRC Services, please go to irc.utucs.com and join #coding. This is the home of the UTUCS.com Development Team. You may ask questions here. There are however some rules:

(1) No flooding
(2) Be patient - wait for the answer.

Server rules apply also. You may find server rules by typing /motd on the IRC server you are connected to. irc.utucs.com is the psuedo round-robin of all UTUCS.com servers. The UTUCS.com web site is currently under construction, but a server list is here:

* sunlight.sf.us.utucs.com [admin: Eddie, coadmin: TheTrance]
* (going to be linked soon) paris.fr.fr.utucs.com [admin: TigerWood]

Currently, the official developers of UTUCS.com are Eddie (ekukiela) and nenolod. The current developers have channel operator status (@) in #coding. Supporters have voice (+) status in the channel.

Please direct any questions here.

Thank you,
UTUCS.com Development Team
