I've installed uml 2.4.8 and the Debian image. Network (tap) works fine. But I can boot only in single mode. When I switch or boot to another runlevel ("e.g. # init 2"), uml hangs. The error message is: "execlp of xterm failed - errno = 2". I have to kill -9 the uml. I can't connect with uml_mconsole. The error is not caused by a script in /etc/rc2.s/. (I did some test and even with an empty /etc/rc2.s/ it hangs).
Does anyone has the same problem ? The host is a Debian 2.2 with Linux 2.2.19 with the ipsec patches.

i think it's because you dont have "xterm" in your PATH.
assuming you got xterm in /usr/X11R6/bin , try something like this:
then try to start your UML again.
if you dont want UML to open up a bunch of xterms, you have to
edit /etc/initttab on the UML filesystem.
